“Substantial” payout includes funding for medical procedure

A man who was knocked down by a speeding car has been awarded a “substantial” payout, which includes funding for a procedure to have his hearing restored.

Nick Snow was crossing a road in Stoke Newington when he was hit by a car. In addition to losing his hearing in his right ear, Mr Snow also suffered serious head injuries and multiple fractures.

Mr Snow will undergo surgery for ear implants to help restore his hearing. It is understood that this is the first time that a settlement has included funding for a medical procedure.

The driver of the car that hit Mr Snow was found guilty of driving without due care and attention after it was found that the car was travelling at more than 55mph in a 30mph zone.

Mr Snow told standard.co.uk: “My rehabilitation and recovery from the accident has been a long process.

“I am pleased and relieved that my legal battle has now come to a close and I can move on with the rest of my life, look towards the future and return to the life I was living prior to the crash, as far as possible

“The settlement will provide me and my family with much needed financial support to contribute to my rehabilitation costs and also to be fitted with ear implants as my hearing suffered.

“My family have been a pillar of strength for me since the accident.

It is great to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
